Turkmen company plans to increase harvest of vegetables

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3

The Turkmen Yigit company plans to produce at least 10,000 tons of vegetables this year, Trend reports with reference to the “Zolotoy Vek” (Golden age) newspaper.

During the first six months of 2020, the company exported about 2,800 tons of products and suppled 3,800 tons of products to the domestic market.

The company built a greenhouse on 34 hectares of land and grew cereals and vegetables on 600 hectares of land.

The company plans to collect 150 tons of mung bean, 300 tons of millet, 90 tons of melons and watermelons. It also grows cabbage, sunflower and other crops.

Next year, potatoes, onions, and melons will be planted on the restored lands, and some of the agricultural products will be exported, said the report.

The company is one of the first in the country to organize an enterprise that specializes in the production of vegetables and cereals. The enterprise employes more than 500 people.

Yigit company has a number of international diplomas and certificates.

Agriculture is one of the most important branches of Turkmenistan's economy. The main types of agricultural crops are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, fruit and vegetables.
