EU helps Georgia overcome economic challenges arising from coronavirus pandemic

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7

The European Union (EU) will continue to support Georgia in overcoming the economic challenges arising from the coronavirus pandemic, said Director of the Department of Eastern Neighborhood of the European Commission Lawrence Meredith, Trend reports with reference to Georgian media.

He made the remark during the online meeting with Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava.

The meeting was also attended by Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Georgia Vincent Rey.

The parties discussed issues related to the EU support to small and medium-sized businesses in Georgia, green growth, the country's internetization and digitalization, energy reforms and various infrastructure projects.

The sides also focused on the current and future cooperation programs between Georgia and the EU.

Turnava thanked the EU representatives for the inclusion of Georgia in the list of the so-called Green Countries.

According to the minister, this decision is a recognition of the effective anti-pandemic measures taken by the country government.
