Demand for Iran's products increases in Russia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15

Iran's products export to Russia increased by nearly 60 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Director General of Europe and America at Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Behrouz Hosne Olfat told Trend.

The director stressed that the total amount of trade turnover between Iran and Russia reached about $400 million in the last Iranian year.

He added that this is a record figure achieved within past 10 years.

"Despite the problems related to the spread of the coronavirus, the value of Iran's exports to Russia increased by 5 percent during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020)," he said.

Hosne Olfat noted that the value of Iran's imports from Russia increased by 40 percent in the last Iranian year. The imports were mainly essential products, including barley and crude cooking oil.

In total, Iran exported 133 million tons of products worth $41.3 billion in the last Iranian year and imported 35.3 million tons of products worth $43.7 billion.

The value of Iran's foreign trade amounted to $13.9 billion during the first three months of the current year (March 20-June 20, 2020).

Iran's non-oil exports amounted to 21.9 million tons worth $6.36 billion during the period. Iran's exports fell by 43.98 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

During the three months, Iran imported 8.92 million tons of products worth $7.62 billion. The imports decreased by 26.86 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
