Iran discloses volume of wheat purchased in Razavi Khorasan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25

More than 406,000 tons of wheat has been purchased from farmers in Razavi Khorasan (northeastern Iran) since beginning of current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date, director general of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Razavi Khorasan Province, Hamidreza Nouri said, Trend reports referring to the corporation’s website.

The director general stressed that the value of 82 percent of the purchased wheat has been paid to farmers, so far.

Nouri added that thus, 8.32 trillion rials (about $198 million) were paid to farmers.

According to director general, the most of wheat was purchased in the Torbat-e Jam County (26,000 tons), Chenaran county (41,000 tons) and Mashhad county (40,000 tons).

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
