Revenues of Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom plummet in 1H2020

The net profit of Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom National Atomic Company has amounted to 66 billion tenges ($157.6 million) in 1H2020, which is 37 percent less compared to 104 billion tenges ($248.4 million) in 1H2019, Trend reports with reference to the company.

The Kazatomprom group of companies consolidated revenue amounted to 153.1 billion tenges ($365.7 million) in 1H2020, which is a 13 percent decrease compared to 1H2019 (176.6 billion tenges or $421.8 million).

The company’s operating profit stood at 47.5 billion tenges ($113.4 million) in 1H2020 compared to 27.1 billion tenges ($64.7 million) in 1H2019, which indicates 75-percent increase year-on-year.

The company’s operating cash flow amounted to 38.2 billion tenges ($91.2 million), which is 66 percent less than 111.3 billion tenges ($265.8 million) in 1H2019.

Adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) of the company amounted to 81 billion tenges ($193.4 million) in 1H2020, which is 37 percent less than in 1H2019 (73 billion tenges or $174.3 million).

In turn, the company’s attributable EBITDA stood at 84 billion tenges ($200.6 million) in 1H2020, which compared to 58.5 billion tenges ($139.7 million) in 1H2019 indicates an increase by 11 percent.

Kazatomprom is the world's largest producer of uranium, with the company’s attributable production representing approximately 23 percent of global primary uranium production in 2018.

The company benefits from the largest reserve base in the industry and operates, through its subsidiaries, JVs and Associates, 26 deposits grouped into 13 mining assets. All of the company’s mining operations are located in Kazakhstan.
