Azerbaijan's exports to Russia climbs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.22

By Zeyni Jafarov - Trend:

The foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and Russia from January through September 2020 made up slightly over $1.9 billion, which is 7.9 percent less than in the same period of last year, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

According to the ministry, the export of Azerbaijani goods to Russia in the past nine months of this year amounted to $499.8 million, while a year earlier this figure was $499.2 million.

Thus, Russia increased the import of goods from Azerbaijan by 0.1 percent on an annualized basis while the share of Russia in the total export volume of Azerbaijan grew from 3.36 percent to 4.72 percent, the ministry said.

At the same time, the import of Russian goods to Azerbaijan on an annualized basis decreased from $1.6 billion to $1.44 billion. The share of Russia in the total import volume of Azerbaijan reached 18.4 percent compared to 15.47 percent in the same period of 2019.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia remained negative during the reporting period and amounted to $939.6 million.

In general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover made up $18.4 billion from January through September 2020, which is a 1.4 times decline year on year.

The balance of foreign trade turnover on an annualized basis dropped by 1.6 times, but nevertheless remained positive, amounting to over $2.7 billion.
