CIS raises import of Azerbaijani products

Azerbaijan's exports to the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) totaled $958 million in the first nine months of 2020, having increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the bulletin, CIS’s share in the overall export of Azerbaijan for the reporting period rose from 5.74 to 9.06 percent.

The volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and CIS countries in 9M2020 amounted to $2.97 billion, which is 10 percent less compared to 9M2019.

At the same time, the value of CIS’ exports to Azerbaijan dropped from $2.42 billion to $1.98 billion. The share of the CIS in the total import of Azerbaijan made up 25.42 percent, while a year earlier - 23.38 percent.

Thus, the balance of the foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan with the CIS countries for the reporting period remained negative, having equaled $1.03 billion.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through September 2020 amounted to $18.4 billion, while a year earlier this indicator was 27.1 percent less.

The balance of foreign trade turnover decreased by 38.6 percent on an annualized basis, but remained positive, amounting to $2.75 billion.

Currently, Russia remains the main sales market for Azerbaijani oil and agricultural products among the CIS countries.
