Buy/sell operations at Iran Mercantile Exchange decrease

A total of 398,846 tons of goods worth more than 51 trillion rials (about $1.21 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the last Iranian week (October 18 through October 22), Trend reports citing the IME’s official website.

Thus, this is a decrease of 43 percent in terms volume and 50 percent in terms of value compared to the same period preceding Iranian week (October 10 through October 15).

According to the report, however, 928,000 tons of goods worth more than 102 trillion rials (about $2.42 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding Iranian week.

"A total of 162,000 tons of goods worth 27.5 trillion rials (about $655 million) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of IME," the report said.

Moreover 145,000 tons of steel, 8,700 tons of aluminum, 7,400 tons of copper, 12 tons of precious metal concentrate, 120 tons of molybdenum sulfur, 720 tons of zinc were sold in this section.

"At the same time, 236,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 24.4 trillion rials (about $582 million) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME in the last week," the report said.

According to the report, 55,000 tons of vacuum bottom, 30,800 tons of bitumen, 63,500 tons of polymeric substances, 30,600 tons of chemicals, 43,500 tons of lube cut, 1,420 tons of glass facades, 2,960 tons of base oil, 150 tons of argon, and 8,000 tons of sulfur were sold in this section.

Furthermore, 308 tons of various products were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.
