Austria fully supports Uzbekistan obtaining of EU’s GSP beneficiary status

Austria fully supports Uzbekistan's application for obtaining the status of the beneficiary of European Union Generalised System of Preferences (GSP+), Trend reports with reference to the Embassy of Uzbekistan to EU & Benelux.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Austria Abat Fayzullayev held a meeting with the Minister's Advisor, Director of the Department for Multilateral Trade Policy of the Ministry of Economy and Digitalization of Austria, Juliane Köhrer.

Priority areas were outlined within the framework of cooperation to obtain Uzbekistan's status as a beneficiary of the GSP+ system, as well as issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda.

The GSP+ system is part of the Generalised System of Preferences of the European Union and offers its beneficiary countries zero tariff rates for exports to the EU for more than 6,200 commodity items.

Köhrer expressed full support of the Austrian side of Uzbekistan's application for obtaining the status of the beneficiary of the GSP+ system.

Köhrer also noted a positive and friendly approach on the part of her European colleagues on the issue of bringing trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan to a qualitatively new level.

In addition, the Director of the Department for Multilateral Trade Policy of the Ministry of Economy and Digitalization of Austria expressed confidence that Uzbekistan will receive the specified status as soon as possible and become one of the main partners of the EU.
