The implementation of 117 projects with a total cost of $1.4 million has been approved at Angren free economic zone (FEZ) in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to uzdaily.uz.
According to the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan, the territory of the Angren FEZ includes land plots located in the northern part of the A-373 highway in the cities of Akhangaran and Angren and in the Akhangaran region, as well as 15 hectares in the city of Bekabad.
Currently, on the territory of the Angren FEZ 70 projects were implemented and 8,165 jobs were created due to attracting $783.9 million of investments, including $294.4 million of direct foreign investments on the basis of 66 enterprises.
At the same time, the Administrative Council of the Angren FEZ approved the implementation of additional 47 projects worth $727.16 million in its territory.
The implementation has disbursed $179.5 million, of which $97.8 million are direct foreign investments. As a result of the projects, it is planned to create 11,816 new jobs.
Currently, the issue of placing seven projects on the territory of the Angren FEZ with a total value of $97.1 million is being considered, of which $67.4 million account for foreign direct investment.
The projects are planned to be implemented in 2021-2022, and if they are approved, an additional 50 hectares of land will be used and 820 new jobs will be created.
