Bulk of trade turnover between Uzbekistan, Russia falls on metal products and textile

The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia for ten months of this year increased by 20.2 percent to $4.8 billion, Russian Ambassador to the Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said on Monday at a press conference following the results of 2020, Trend reports.

At the same time, Russian exports grew by 25.3 percent to $3.8 billion, and imports - by 3.7 percent to $1 billion.

In the structure of Russian exports to Uzbekistan, the main share of exported goods fell on metals and products from them - 25.1 percent, machinery, equipment, and vehicles - 18.6 percent, food products, and agricultural raw materials (except for textiles) - 14.2 percent, wood and pulp and paper products - 12.1 percent, mineral products - 10.9 percent and chemical industry products, rubber - 10.3 percent.

The main driver of growth in Russian export indicators remained an increase in the supply of mineral products, food products, and agricultural raw materials, as well as metallurgical products.

In the structure of Russian imports from Uzbekistan for 9M2020, the main weight fell on textiles and their products and footwear - 57.1 percent, food products, and agricultural raw materials - 28.2 percent, products of the chemical industry, rubber - 6.7 percent, machinery, equipment, and vehicles - 3.3 percent and metals and products from them - 2.2 percent.

The main factor behind the final growth in imports is an increase in the supply of food products and agricultural raw materials, as well as textile products.

The ambassador noted that achievement of such indicators became possible thanks to reliable and time-tested cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, the development of new forms of interaction, including online formats.

In addition, total Russian investments in the Uzbek economy amounted to about $10 billion. Over the past year, more than 270 new joint Russian-Uzbek enterprises were created in the industry, energy, and agriculture. The total number of economic entities with Russian capital in Uzbekistan today has exceeded 2,000 units.
