Iran boosts value of exports from Gilan Province

The value of exports from the Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 33 percent during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through January 20, 2021), said Abolghasem Yousefinejad, supervisor of Gilan Customs Office, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to Yousefinejad, $520 million worth of goods were exported from the Gilan Province over the reporting period. While in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, to March 21, 2021), $600 million worth of products are expected to be exported from Gilan Province.

The official added that the Gilan Province’s goods were mainly exported to the Caspian littoral countries.

“The Astara customs checkpoint is the most active customs office in Gilan Province. Thus, the customs checkpoint accounts for more than 82 percent of the province's total exports,” he said.

Yousefinejad stressed the fact that about 2.2 percent of Iran's total imports is implemented through the customs of Gilan Province.
