The number of vehicles re-export from Georgia down by 66,000 in 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat ).
The total revenue of the sector dropped by $328.7 million. Consequently, the COVID-19 crisis hit the vehicle trade hard.
As of the Geostat report, exports to Armenia fell by 98 percent. In 2020, the number of vehicle re-export to Armenia totaled 850, while the figure exceeded $59,000 in 2019. The drop in exports on the Armenian market is $230 million.
Like Armenia, sharp declines in re-exports were noted in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and the UAE. In return, re-exports increased to Ukraine, Tajikistan, and Turkey.

1 Azerbaijan - 23,348 cars worth $226.38 million; decrease in quantity -898;
2 Ukraine - 10,336 cars worth $81.09 million; decrease in quantity -156;
3 United Arab Emirates - 401 cars worth $23.94 million; decrease in quantity -246;
4 Belgium - 299 cars worth $14.26 million; increase in quantity - 166;
5 Russia - 1,906 cars worth $10.64 million; increase in quantity - 643;
6 Kyrgyzstan - 931 cars worth $8.20 million; decrease in quantity -6,635;
7 Tajikistan - 862 cars worth $6.15 million; increase in quantity - 340;
8 Turkey - 146 cars worth $5.42 million; increase in quantity - 59;
9 Armenia - 850 cars worth $4.88 million; decrease in quantity - 59,029;
10 Kazakhstan - 317 cars worth $3.96 million; decrease in quantity - 924.
Vehicle export ranked as the second among the major export commodities in 2020, while it took 1st place in 2019.
