Uzbekistan’s number of small enterprises and microfirms revealed

The number of operating small enterprises and microfirms in Uzbekistan as of January 1, 2021 amounted to 411,203, Trend reports referring to the press service of State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The largest number of small enterprises and microfirms operating in Uzbekistan fell on trade sector, amounting to 131,597 enterprises. At the same time the number of small enterprises and microfirms in agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector amounted to 40,719 microfirms.

In addition, industry and construction sectors account for 82,746 and 40,695 enterprises, respectively.

Earlier it was reported that the number of small enterprises and microfirms in Uzbekistan as of October 1, 2020, amounted to 391,300 units.

The largest number of operating small enterprises and microfirms then was registered in Tashkent – 82,301 enterprises, in the Tashkent region - 38,097 enterprises and in the Fergana region - 33,307 enterprises.

In addition, the largest share of newly created small enterprises and microfirms by type of economic activity as of October 1, 2020 fell on trade – 123,466 enterprises, industry - 79,230 enterprises, construction – 39,641 enterprises and agriculture, forestry and fishery - 38, enterprises.

It was also reported that Uzbekistan plans to extend a number of benefits provided to entrepreneurs in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the draft State Program for 2021, it is proposed to extend the benefits for the payment of taxes on land and property for entrepreneurs in the field of tourism, transport and catering, a deferral for some taxes and to suspend the accrual of penalties.

The document proposes to extend the period of validity of benefits for the payment of taxes on land and property in the amount of 400 billion soums ($38.1 million), delayed until the end of 2020, for 20,000 business entities in the field of tourism, transport and public catering.
