Azerbaijan discloses trade balance with Russia for 2020

As of early January 2021, export from Azerbaijan to Russia in total terms amounted to about $709.4 million, which shows a decrease by 3.1 percent compared to early 2020, Trend reports on Feb. 8 with reference to the statistics bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

The share of Russia in the total export of Azerbaijan reached 5.16 percent compared to 3.73 percent as of January 1, 2020.

By early January 2021, import of the Russian products to Azerbaijan amounted to $1.9 billion while Russia's share in Azerbaijan's total import increased by 1.53 percentage points for the year, amounting to 18.29 percent of the total volume.

The volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries in 2020 exceeded $2.7 billion while at the same time, the trade balance between Azerbaijan and Russia remained negative for the reporting year and is estimated at $1.2 billion.

In general, as of 2020, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $24.5 billion. More than $13.7 billion or 56.15 percent of that volume accounted for export while the remaining $10.7 billion, or 43.85 percent, for import.
