Red meat production in Iran increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 16

The red meat production in Iran increased by 38 percent in the 10th month of the current Iranian year (from December 21, 2020, through January 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran.

According to the statistics, a total of 40,400 tons of red meat were produced in Iran in the 10th month.

“About 58.2 percent of red meat produced in Iran was accounted for beef and veal. So, 23,500 tons of beef and veal were produced in Iran over the 10th month,” the statistics said.

In addition, 13,600 tons of mutton and 2,500 tons of goat meat were produced in Iran during the reporting month. The mutton and goat meat accounted for 33.6 percent and 6.3 percent of red meat production in Iran, respectively, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 775 tons of other animal meat were produced in Iran within the 10th month, which accounted for 1.9 percent of total red meat production.

“The red meat production in Iran in the 10th month increased by 11.6 percent compared to the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 21 through December 20, 2020),” the statistics said.
