Azerbaijan scales up trade operations with CIS countries in 2M2021

The volume of foreign trade operations between Azerbaijan and the CIS countries from Jan. through Feb. 2021 made up $604.4 million, which is 1.6 percent more than in 2M2020, Trend reports citing the statistical bulletin of Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the bulletin, exports from Azerbaijan to the CIS countries exceeded $256.3 billion in the reporting period, up by 32.7 percent year on year.

Thus, the share of the CIS countries in the total export of Azerbaijan increased from 5.94 percent (recorded in 2M2020) to 9.19 percent.

Imports of products of the CIS countries to Azerbaijan on an annualized basis decreased from $401.4 million to $339.1 million. The share of the CIS in Azerbaijan's total imports amounted to 21.04 percent of the total volume against 22.46 percent in the same period of last year.

Thus, the balance of foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan with the CIS countries for the reporting period remained negative, amounting to $82.8 million.
