Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has rationalized an agreement on mutual protection and promotion of investments signed with Georgia on July 19, 2016, Trend reports referring to Resmi Gazete.
Reportedly, this agreement applies to investments in the territory of the two states from the date of entry into force.
Turkey is Georgia's largest trading partner. Foreign trade turnover with the neighboring country in the first quarter of 2021 increased by 3.7 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to about $ 419 million - 15.1 percent of Georgia's total foreign trade turnover.
Last year, Georgia and Turkey traded by about $1.6 billion, 12.2 percent less than in 2019. Despite this, Turkey was Georgia's main trading partner in 2020.
