Agreement to hold the next meeting of the Uzbek-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation has been reached, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade between the first Deputy Minister Laziz Kudratov and the Ambassador of Lithuania to Uzbekistan Eitvydas Bajarunas, during which the ambassador noted the growing interest of the Lithuanian business community in cooperation with Uzbek partners in various areas of production and services.
It was noted that opportunities and prospects of Uzbek-Lithuanian cooperation in mutually attractive industries, such as transport and logistics, agriculture, renewable energy sources, information and communication technologies, were discussed.
“Lithuania is one of the largest trade partners of Uzbekistan in the EU space,” the message said.
It is reported that the trade turnover between the countries over the past four years has increased 2.5 times and exceeded $500 million. The parties noted the need to further increase the volume of mutual trade due to the wide use of the sectoral potential of the two countries.
Also, an agreement was reached on holding the next meeting of the Uzbek-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as a business forum with the participation of entrepreneurs of the two countries this fall.
