Uzbekistan’s main share of market services falls on Tashkent

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22

The main share of market services implemented in Uzbekistan from January through May 2021 fell on Tashkent, amounting to 18.5 percent, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the volume of market services provided in 5M2021 reached 104.3 trillion soums ($9.9 billion), increasing by 20.9 percent or 25.1 trillion soums ($2.4 billion) compared to last year.

In particular, the volume of market services provided in May this year reached 21.5 trillion soums ($2 billion), having increased by one trillion soums ($94.6 million) by January and decreased by 0.3 trillion soums ($28.3 million) by April.

It is noted that the most demanded services in the country from January to May accounted for trade services, transport services and financial services, 25.8 trillion soums ($2.4 billion), 24.4 trillion soums ($2.3 billion) and 23.3 trillion soums ($2.2 billion), respectively.

Moreover, the main share of the market services during the reporting period fell on Tashkent city (18.5 percent), Tashkent (12.5 percent) and Samarkand (11.3 percent) regions.

Earlier reports said it was planned to implement 42,000 new projects worth 59 trillion soums ($5.6 billion) and the creation of 150,000 permanent jobs this year in order to develop the service sector.

Also, this year Uzbek banks will allocate at least 18 trillion soums ($1.7 billion) of loans for projects in the service sector.

It was also reported that the government of Uzbekistan through commercial banks will allocate an additional $300 million, of which $150 million will reach the regions by July 1.
