Uzbekistan’s business activity index for June 2021 revealed

The Business Activity Index (BAI) in Uzbekistan, calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) in June 2021 amounted to 1,034 points, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

According to CERR, compared to May 2021, the BAI increased by 3.4 percent. Also, a 13.5 percent growth in BAI was noted compared to the same period last year.

In June 2021, the BAI for 12 regions increased compared to the previous month (May 2021). So, in Tashkent it was 42.7 percent, in Karakalpakstan Republic - 39.1 percent, as well as in Surkhandarya region - 48 percent, Bukhara region - 28.6 percent, Kashkadarya region - 21.4 percent.

At the same time, a decline was observed in Jizzakh region (-7.3 percent) and Tashkent region (-1.1 percent) regions compared to the previous month.

It is reported that the number of interbank payment transactions in June 2021 amounted to 4,890,000 and increased by 314,000 transactions (6.9 percent), compared to May 2021.

In addition, the exchange component of the BAI amounted to 1.0225, which means an increase in the level of the component by 2.2 percent compared to the previous month, which is associated with an increase in the number of transactions by 7.3 percent.

At the same time, the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction decreased by 2.8 percent.

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in June 2021 amounted to 5.8 trillion soums ($551 million), which is 7.9 percent more than in the previous month.

It is also reported that during the reporting period, the number of small businesses increased from 443,497 to 450,155 units (an increase of 6,658 units). The number of farms increased from 107,585 to 108,146 units (561 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,059 units, which is nine units less than in May 2021.
