Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Minister of Finance Timur Ishmetov, and Chairman of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmatov met with the Managing Director and Executive Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Makhtar Diop, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit, On September 14, Trend reports citing Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.
The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Minister of Finance Omonulla Nasriddinkhodjaev, Deputy Minister of Finance Odilbek Isakov and Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Shukhrat Vafayev, and a number of officials.
During the meeting, the parties discussed changes in the socio-economic sphere of Uzbekistan in recent years, the work done to develop the country's economy, despite the pandemic, an increase in GDP, liberalization of the country's economy and the foreign exchange market, the formation of market relations, also exchanged views on ongoing reforms aimed at an increase in the share of the private sector in the country's economy, transformation processes, reduction of poverty and welfare of the population, their efficiency and international cooperation.
Moreover, the meeting also discussed the activities of the Central Bank, its role in the process of privatization and transformation of banks. The parties talked about the transition to a green economy, the use of wind and solar energy, the formation of infrastructure for electric vehicles, the reduction of inflation, agriculture, energy, the chemical industry, health care, assistance to the private sector, the creation of new jobs, public-private partnerships, ongoing projects in this area, strengthening the competitive environment and increasing efficiency.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen and bring cooperation on the above issues to a new level.
