Kazakhstan names leading regions by agricultural output

Kazakhstan’s agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output amounted to 2.88 trillion tenge ($6.7 billion) over the period from January through August 2021, which is 2 percent more compared to the same month of the last year, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Some 2.86 trillion tenge ($6.7 billion) accounted for agriculture alone, including 919.6 billion ($2.1 billion) accounting for plant growing, and 1.9 trillion tenge ($4.5 billion) - for animal husbandry.

The increase in the agriculture, forestry and fishery gross output during the reporting period was due to the increase of slaughter volumes of livestock and poultry in live weight by 6 percent, and the yield of raw cow's milk by 3.3 percent.

Almaty region leads by the total value of agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output, which reached 459.5 billion tenge ($1.08 billion) from January through August 2021, showing a 1.1-percent increase compared to the same months of 2020.

This includes 171.7 billion tenge ($404.08 million) worth of plant growing output and 284.7 billion tenge ($670.07 million) of animal husbandry output.

Second and third places accounted for Turkestan and East Kazakhstan regions.

Agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output in the Turkestan region amounted to 405.6 billion tenge ($954.4 million), which is 2 percent less than during the same period of 2020.

This includes 170.2 billion tenge ($400.4 million) worth of plant growing output and 230.7 billion tenge ($543.05 million) of animal husbandry output.

The value of agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output in the East Kazakhstan region amounted to 326.2 billion tenge ($767.6 million), which is 2.4 percent more than during the same period of last year.

This includes 64.4 billion tenge ($151.6 million) worth of plant growing output and 259.7 billion tenge ($611.2 million) of animal husbandry output.

An increase in agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output was observed in 13 Kazakh regions during the reporting period.
