Russia intends to import agricultural products from Uzbek Samarkand region

Business circles of St. Petersburg (Russia) and Uzbek Samarkand region have reached an agreement on implementation of joint projects in tourism, construction, as well as the export of agricultural products to the Russian market, Trend reports with reference to the Uzbek media.

From 5 through 7 October 2021, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, together with the Mayor's Office of Tashkent, organized a visit of a delegation of St. Petersburg to Uzbekistan.

Moreover, on October 6, St. Petersburg's delegation met with the governor of the Samarkand region, where the sides discussed issues related to the development of trade, economic, investment cooperation, as well as cooperation in the field of labor migration, tourism and culture.

In order to establish interregional cooperation, on October 6, bilateral meetings were held with the participation of representatives of the business circles of Samarkand and St. Petersburg in the branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Samarkand region.

St. Petersburg's delegation visited an enterprise for the production of silk carpets and rugs, where issues of further export of manufactured products to Russia were discussed.

At the same time, on October 8, a plenary session of the business forum was held in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of the Business Community of St. Petersburg and Uzbekistan. The key topic of the meeting was the further development of trade, economic, investment cooperation between the two countries and the strengthening of ties in the implementation of bilateral projects.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of political, trade-economic, investment, financial-technical and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.

During the dialogue, the parties outlined priority areas for further practical interaction. An agreement was reached to intensify joint work to increase trade between Uzbekistan and Russia.
