Iran`s domestic appliances production increases

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.19

Production of domestic appliances in Iran has increased by 60-70 percent, due to the country's banning the imports in this sector, said the chairman of the board of directors of the Iranian Home Appliance Industry Association Alireza Daniali, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

In 2019, LG and Samsung, which launched a joint venture in Iran, were forced to leave Iran due to sanctions, but the domestic factories tried to meet the needs of the local market, Daniali said.

Iran`s home appliance production has grown in 2020 compared to the preceding year from 8 million units to 15.5 million per year, he said.

Previously, the Home Appliance Industry Association asked the government to prevent the import of small appliances to support the domestic production.

Danieli also mentioned a problem on the home appliances market, which is smuggling of goods.

“Some 40 percent of home appliances market consists of smuggled goods," he said.
