More than 1.2 million tons of cotton have been harvested in Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to Turkmen media.
According to the information, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was presented with the reports of the heads of the five regions to the on the fulfillment of the contractual obligations by the farmers on the production of raw cotton.
Following the results of the report, more than 280,000 tons of cotton were harvested in the Akhal region, 365,000 tons - in Mary, 275,000 tons - in Dashoguz, 10,000 tons - in Balkan and 320,000 tons - in Lebap region.
It is reported that in the spring of this year, cotton was planted in Turkmenistan on 620,000 hectares. It is noted that private agricultural producers were allocated land plots from a special fund for agricultural purposes.
