Iran to build power plants in Khuzestan Province

Iran has signed a memorandum on the construction of small-scale power plants with a capacity to generate 150 megawatt-hours of electricity in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran), Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry.

The memorandum was signed on November 22, 2021, between Executive Director of Iran's Khuzestan Regional Electric Company Mahmoud Dashtbozorg and Executive Director of Safat Energy Yazd Company Reza Javadpour.

According to the report, six small-scale power plants with a generation capacity of 25 megawatt-hours each will be built in different parts of Khuzestan Province.

The equipment and investment of the power plants will be provided by Safat Energy Yazd Company, while the generated electricity will be purchased by the Khuzestan Regional Electric Company under a guarantee.

“By the 3rd month of next Iranian year (May 22, 2022), the power plants that can generate at least 75 megawatt-hours of electricity will be launched in the province,” the report said.
