BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. There are currently 355 mines operating in the Zanjan Province (western Iran), Chairman of Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of Zanjan Province Nasser Faghfouri said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The chairman said that these mines employ 2,978 people and produce more than 12.6 million tons of minerals a year.

Faghfouri added that a total of 3.2 trillion rials (about $76.2 million) has been spent on the development of these mines.

“Of the province’s total mines, 134 mines are located in Zanjan County, and more than 3 million tons of minerals are extracted annually from the mines in this county,” he noted.

According to Faghfouri, within last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), 14 new mines were launched in Iran’s Zanjan Province. In total, 66 people were employed in these mines. A total of 400 billion rials (about $9.5 million) has been spent on the mentioned mines.
