BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9. In total, 550,000 tons of wheat are expected to be purchased from farmers under a guarantee in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran), during the current wheat harvesting season in Iran (as of March 24, 2022), Director General of the Iranian Government Trading Corporation’s branch in Kermanshah Province Mashallah Orveysi said, Trend reports citing the GTC’s website.

According to Orveysi, about 40 tons of wheat have been purchased from farmers under a guarantee in the Kermanshah Province since March 24.

“In addition, 5,000 tons of rapeseed are expected to be purchased from farmers in the province for the current year,” he said.

The director general also noted that 71 centers will be established in the province for the guaranteed purchase of wheat from farmers, as well as 16 centers – for purchase of rapeseed.

In general, 9 million tons of wheat are expected to be purchased in Iran in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2022, through March 20, 2023). Of this, about 5.5 million tons are expected to be purchased by the GTC.

The price of 1 kg of wheat was set up at 115,000 rials (about $2.74), while 1 kg of rapeseed – was at 150,000 rials (about $3.57 million) for the current Iranian year.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
