TEHRAN, Iran, August 2. The sale of Iranian vehicles at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) will solve the automakers' mounting debts to auto part makers, Head of the Iranian Association of Auto Parts Manufacturers Mohammadreza Najafi-Manesh told Trend.

The High Council of Securities and Exchange has decided to resume selling cars via the Iran Mercantile Exchange. In June the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade suspended auto sales saying that the auto sales via the IME were incompatible with rules designed to regulate the chaotic auto market.

Automakers are in a bad financial situation and are facing losses in auto sales, along with stalled debts to auto part makers. The offered solution - reforms in pricing, Najafi-Manesh said, adding that auto part makers are demanding the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade to pursue their debt payments.

According to the official, the best solution for reforming prices is that automakers offer vehicles at the Mercantile Exchange since they can not afford to pay off their debts.

"The price of vehicles has increased 18 percent in the last Iranian year (started March 21,2021) which has been criticized," said the official.
