Iran, Nigeria to form joint working group

TEHRAN, Iran, August 29. Iran and Nigeria will form a joint working group to pursue the implementation of MoUs signed by the two countries, the Iranian Deputy Minister of Oil Ahmad Asadzadeh said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji held a meeting with Minister of State for Petroleum Resources of NigeriaTimipre Sylva.

As members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the two countries emphasized the expansion of their cooperation on various oil and gas projects.

Asadzadeh expressed Iran Oil Ministry's readiness for construction and maintenance services for refineries and petrochemicals in the African country.

“Iran seeks to export technical and Engineering services to Nigeria on various oil and gas projects including the reconstruction and renovation of Nigerian refineries, construction of gas pipelines and petrochemical refineries,” said the Iranian official.

Iranian companies have been awarded contracts to build and refurbish oil refineries in several South American countries.

Nigeria is Africa’s largest oil producer and the sixth largest exporter of LNG in the world.
