TEHRAN, Iran, November 14. Iran’s steel export during the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2022) has reached $2.2 billion and is expected to grow to $5.5 billion by the end of the current year, said Vaheed Yaghoubi, an official with Iran Steel Association, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"Iran’s steel export has improved, compared to the previous year due to better energy management and power supply in July and August," he noted.

Yaghoubi pointed out that Iran's steel export stood at $6 billion last Iranian year (started March 21, 2021), he said, adding that the export prediction for the first half of the current year was $3 billion which dropped to 2.2 because of heavy export customs fees.

The custom fees resulted in steel exports declining by about 15 percent, leading to a $1-billion losses to the industry.
