TEHRAN, Iran, November 16. Iran and Brazil trade has increased during the first ten months of 2022, the Chairman of the Iran-Brazil Joint Chamber of Commerce Fakhordin Amerian told Trend.
Statistics from Brazil Customs show Iran imported more than $6 billion in commodities from Brazil during this period, he said adding that the import value has increased 30 percent compared to 2021 while Iran’s export to Brazil has doubled.
Livestock inputs, meat, chicken and cooking oil were the major imported commodities from Brazil to Iran, he noted.
Iran’s main exports to Brazil included petrochemical products, urea, food items such as raisins, pistachio, and handwoven carpet, Amerian pointed out.
Iran and Brazil's agriculture ministries have held negotiations to set similar health protocols for vegetable quarantines, he said underlining recent agreements between the two countries for the export of fruit from Iran to Brazil.
The victory of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the presidential election will be positive in the development of trade ties between the two countries, he said referring to Lula’s previous trips to Iran during his presidency for expanding ties.
According to the official, Iran’s current urea export to Brazil is 1.3 million tons and Tehran plans to increase urea export to 3 million tons valued at $2 billion.
