BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The unemployment rate in Iran among citizens aged 15 and over increased by 0.3 percent, during the winter season of the last Iranian year (December 22, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the previous winter season, Trend reports via the data from Statistical Center of Iran.
The number of those unemployed in Iran for the reporting period was approximately 2.53 million people, which accounted for 9.7 percent of the active society.
The number of unemployed between the ages of 15 and 24 was more than 585,000, while the number of unemployed between the ages of 18-35 was about 1.7 million.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people with higher education in the country amounted to approximately 941,000 for the winter season, which is a decrease of 0.2 percent compared to the previous season.
In total, the number of people aged 15 and over in Iran was about 64.1 million within the mentioned period. Of these, about 38.1 million or 59.5 percent was considered inactive for economic activities, while 26 million or 40.5 percent - considered active for economic activities.
