Iran names details of imports from neighboring countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 23. Iran imported about 21.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $27.3 billion from neighboring countries, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), a member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.

According to Latifi, Iran's imports from neighboring countries for the reporting period increased by 10 percent in value compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

Latifi also added that the neighboring countries accounted for 47.5 percent of Iran's total imports in value for the last Iranian year.

“Iran imported goods worth approximately $18.4 billion from the UAE, worth approximately $6.1 billion from Türkiye, worth approximately $1.58 billion from Russia, worth $842 million from Pakistan, and worth $800 million from Oman during the last Iranian year,” he added.

The official noted that Iran also imported goods worth $264 million from Iraq, worth $125 million Kazakhstan, worth $84 million from Qatar, worth $34 million from Azerbaijan, worth $29 million from Afghanistan, worth $28 million from Turkmenistan, worth $12.5 million from Kuwait, worth $3.5 million from Bahrain and worth $14 million from the others.

Meanwhile, Iran's total non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries for the last Iranian year amounted to about 96.8 million tons worth over $58.8 billion.

Overall, Iran imported a total of 37.1 million tons of goods worth approximately $59.7 billion for the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 13 percent in volume, while a decrease of 10 percent in volume compared to the preceding year.
