BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. The value of Iran’s imports from African countries increased by 59 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Deputy Chairman of the Iranian-African Businessmen's Club Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.

“Generally, Iran imported about 92,900 tons of goods worth $95.3 million from the African countries within the last Iranian year,” Latifi said.

He added that Iran imported goods from 22 out of 54 countries of the African continent during the reporting period.

According to the official, Iran imported goods worth $20.1 million from Tanzania, worth $17.3 million from Kenya, worth $16.6 million from the Republic of South Africa, worth $9.13 million from Ghana, worth $7.28 million from Seychelles, worth $5.52 million from Egypt and worth $4.74 million from Congo in the last year.

As for the total non-oil trade turnover between Iran and African countries for the last Iranian year, Latifi noted that the trade turnover amounted to about 2.55 million tons worth approximately $1.28 billion, which is an increase of 2 percent compared to the preceding year.

Overall, Iran imported a total of 37.1 million tons of goods worth approximately $59.7 billion for the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 13 percent in volume, while a decrease of 10 percent in volume compared to the preceding year.
