BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. Iran imported over 1.23 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $1.52 billion from neighboring countries, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), a member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.
“Iran's imports from neighboring countries for the reporting month increased by 17.4 percent in value compared to the same month in the last Iranian year,” he said.
Within the 1st month, Iran imported goods worth more than $1 billion from the UAE, worth $345 million from Türkiye, worth $58.5 million from Russia, worth $45.2 million from Pakistan, and worth $37 million from Oman, Latifi added.
According to the official, Iran also imported goods worth $7.1 million from Iraq, worth $3.6 million from Azerbaijan, worth $3.5 million from Qatar, worth $3 million from Kazakhstan, worth $2.8 million from Turkmenistan, worth $1.4 million from Afghanistan, worth $151,000 from Kuwait, and worth $1.6 million from the others in the first month.
As for Iran's total non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries for the 1st month, Latifi noted that the trade turnover amounted to about 7 million tons worth $3.49 billion, which is an increase of 11.5 percent in value and 26 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
Overall, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the 1st month. The imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
