BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The unemployment rate in Iran among citizens aged 15 and over decreased by 0.2 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Trend reports.
The number of those unemployed in Iran for the last year was approximately 2.35 million people, which accounted for 9 percent of the active society.
The number of unemployed between the ages of 15 and 24 was more than 558,000, while the number of unemployed between the ages of 18-35 was 1.62 million.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people with higher education in the country amounted to 938,000 for the last year, which is a decrease of 2 percent compared to the preceding year.
In total, the number of people aged 15 and over in Iran was about 63.8 million within the mentioned period. Of these, about 37.7 million or 59.1 percent was considered inactive for economic activities, while 26.1 million or 41.9 percent - considered active for economic activities.
