BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. In general, Iran imported about 3 million tons of non-oil products worth $3.73 billion from neighboring countries, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), a member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.
According to him, Iran's imports from neighboring countries for the reporting month decreased by 2 percent in value compared to the same period in the last Iranian year.
“Within 2 months, Iran imported goods worth $2.3 billion from the UAE, $783 million from Türkiye, $269 million from Russia, $114 million from Oman, and $105 million from Pakistan,” the official added.
Latifi said that Iran also imported goods worth $23 million from Iraq, $12 million from Qatar, $9.6 million from Azerbaijan, $9 million from Kazakhstan, $6.7 million from Turkmenistan, $2.8 million from Afghanistan, $2.4 million from Kuwait, and $4 million from the rest during 2 months.
Commenting on Iran's total non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries for two months, Latifi also added that the trade turnover amounted to 13 million tons worth $7.46 billion.
In total, Iran's non-oil trade turnover stood at 25.7 million tons worth about $15.5 billion in 2 months, of which 48.3 percent in value and 51 percent in volume accounted for neighboring countries.
Overall, Iran imported 4.73 million tons of goods worth $7.94 billion for the first 2 months of the current Iranian year.
This is a decrease of 4.79 percent in value and 8.7 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
