BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Iran's saffron exports increased by 52 percent in value and 66 percent in volume during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.
"During five months, Iran exported 81.5 tons of saffron worth approximately $88 million," the official added.
Latifi also said that Iran exported saffron to 47 countries within the mentioned period. On average, 1 kg of exported saffron was worth $1.080.
The top 10 destination in Iran's saffron export for 5 months are:
- China – 28.4 tons worth $33.3 million;
- The UAE – 19.1 tons worth $21 million;
- Spain – 15.5 tons worth $15.9 million;
- Qatar – 7.12 tons worth $7.1 million;
- Afghanistan – 5.58 tons worth $5.34 million;
- Italy – 2.3 tons worth $1.79 million;
- Oman 1.08 tons worth $1.47 million;
- France – 907 kg worth $917,000;
- India – 696 kg worth $715,000;
- Kuwait – 629 kg worth 643,000.
Overall, Iran exported 55.9 million tons of non-oil products worth $19.3 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year.
This is an increase of 26.5 percent in value and a decrease of 8.55 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
