BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Local minibus production in Iran increased by 12 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
Overall, 449 minibuses were produced in Iran for 5 months, as was reflected in the report of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade. Whereas the figure stood at 401 units in the same period last Iranian year.
In the 5th month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), Iran produced 39 minibuses, representing a 46.5 percent decrease compared to 73 units in the same month last year.
Generally, 1,118 minibuses were produced in the country for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 10.8 percent compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
In total, 536,903 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and so on) were produced in Iran for the first five months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 27 percent compared to the same period last year.
There are three giant car manufacturing companies, Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
