BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. As many as 828,000 tons of goods worth $872 million were imported through the customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran), during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Director for the Economic Affairs Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Governor Office Mojtaba Shojaei said, Trend reports.
According to him, the imports increased by 8 percent in value, while decreased by 17 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
The director added that the main imported goods via the province’s customs were wheat, rice, corn fodder, barley fodder, mangoes, bananas, tea, fabric, car spare part, etc.
Shojaei also noted that these goods came mainly from Russia, Pakistan, France, Germany, India and others
Overall, Iran imported 17.6 million tons of goods worth $30.4 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023). This is an increase of 11.6 percent in value and 6.89 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
