BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. Iran exported 31.4 million tons of non-oil products to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.
According to Latifi, the value of these exports was about $10.6 billion, which was 3 percent lower than the same period last year. However, the volume of these exports increased by 46 percent compared to last year.
The top destinations of Iran’s non-oil exports to SCO members were:
- China: $6.9 billion;
- India: $1.1 billion;
- Pakistan: $939 million;
- Afghanistan: $816 million;
- Russia: $440 million.
Iran also exported to other SCO members, such as:
- Uzbekistan: $160 million;
- Tajikistan: $117 million;
- Kazakhstan: $86.4 million;
- Kyrgyzstan: $29.4 million;
- Belarus: $8.6 million;
- Mongolia: $286,000.
Currently, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has nine members (China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran) and three observer members (Afghanistan, Belarus, and Mongolia).
In total, Iran’s non-oil exports amounted to $24.1 billion and 67.7 million tons in the first half of the current Iranian year, showing a 2.62 percent increase in value and a 29 percent decrease in volume from the same period last year.
Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Therefore, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
