BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. Iran's imports from member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) increased by 24 percent in value and 21 percent in volume in the first 6 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.
The official also said that Iran imported 5.54 million tons of goods from the SCO member countries worth about $11.2 billion in six months.
The top destinations for Iran’s imports from SCO members were:
- China: $8.8 billion;
- India: $987 million;
- Russia: $925 million
- Pakistan: $239 million;
- Uzbekistan: $42.4 million.
Iran also imported from other SCO members, such as:
- Kazakhstan: $40 million;
- Belarus: $36.5 million;
- Tajikistan: $32 million;
- Afghanistan: $11.3 million
- Kyrgyzstan: $3.66 million;
- Mongolia: $2.5 million.
Overall, Iran imported 17.6 million tons of goods worth $30.4 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023). This is an increase of 11.6 percent in value and 6.89 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s main import partners in this period were the UAE, China, Türkiye, Germany, and India. The main imported items were corn feed, mobile phones, and soybean seeds.
