Iran's North Khorasan Province sees significant surge in non-oil imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. The Iranian northeastern province of North Khorasan Province saw a significant growth in imports for the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), said Hossein Hajibegloo, the chairman of the Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of the province, Trend reports.

Hajibegloo noted that the North Khorasan Province imported 139,000 tons of goods worth $47.7 million during 8 months, representing a 511-percent increase in volume and a 5 percent growth in value compared to the same period last year.

He added that most of the imports were bauxite, which made up 97 percent of the volume. The value of each ton of imported bauxite was $108.

According to the chairman, the province also imported pipes, catalysts, and other products from various countries, such as China, Türkiye, the UAE, Germany, and South Korea.

The total imports of Iran in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023) were 24.7 million tons worth $42.2 billion, which represents an increase of 12.3 percent in value and 4.32 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
