Iron ore concentrate output from Iran’s giant steel companies surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 27. The iron ore concentrate production of 10 major Iranian companies rose by 3.4 percent in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the data from Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), these companies produced around 33.4 million tons of iron ore concentrate in 8 months.

In the corresponding period of the previous Iranian year, the production stood at around 32.3 million tons.

The iron ore concentrate production of 10 major Iranian companies for 8 months are as follows:

- Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company: 7.52 million tons

- Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company: 7.04 million tons

- Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company: 6 million tons

- Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO): 3.1 million tons

- Sangan Mining Industries Company: 2.6 million tons

- Central Iron Ore Company of Iran: 2.52 million tons

- Sanabad Inclusive Development Industrial and Mining Company: 1.76 million tons

- Opal Parsian Sangan Industrial and Mining Company: 1.65 million tons

- Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company: 924,000 tons

- Jalalabad Iron Ore Complex: 275,000 tons

In addition, the mentioned companies sent 12.4 million tons of iron ore concentrate to relevant companies for steel production within 8 months. This is 23.4 percent more than the same period last year.

As reported, Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. Iron ore concentrate is used in steel production, and Iran has a capacity to produce around 40 million tons of raw steel and steel products annually.
