BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 15. The Iranian northeastern province of North Khorasan Province has recorded a remarkable growth in imports for the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), said Hossein Hajibegloo, the chairman of the Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of the province, Trend reports.
The chairman stated that the North Khorasan Province imported over 143,000 tons of goods worth $54 million for 9 months, representing a 447-percent increase in volume and a 7 percent growth in value compared to the same period last year.
Hajibegloo also said that most of the imports were bauxite, which made up 97 percent of the volume.
He added that the province also imported pipes, catalysts, and other products from various countries, such as China, Türkiye, the UAE, Germany, and South Korea.
The IRICA's latest data shows that Iran’s overall imports stood at 28.7 million tons, worth $48.4 billion, in the first nine months of the current Iranian year, representing a 12.3 percent increase in value and a 7 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
