BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. AzerGold CJSC is taking steps to increase its contribution to the development of Azerbaijan's non-oil sector within the framework of the strategy of economic diversification, CJSC's board head Zakir Ibrahimov said during the AzerGold event in Baku, Trend reports.
According to him, the development of the precious metals industry contributes to the growth of Azerbaijan's export potential.
"From the second half of 2017 (start of operations) until May 2024, AzerGold exported 412,000 ounces (or 12.8 tons) of gold and 785,000 ounces (or 24 tons) of silver to the world market. CJSC sold 15,000 ounces of gold and 100,000 ounces of silver on the domestic market," Ibrahimov said.
He noted that these operations brought in an in an income of 1.232 billion manat.
To note, the CJSC was established by the decree of the head of state in 2015 and started its operations in 2017.
