As of November 2005 Azerbaijan gathered 1, 059,000 tons of potato, or 15.9% more as compared 2004. This is the highest figure in this sphere, the Agriculture Ministry told Trend.
Such figure was achieved at expanse of expansion of sown areas and increase of crop capacity.
Potato harvest in sown areas is almost over. The crop capacity comprised 149 centners per hectares. In 2005 the total sown area comprised 70,600 hectares against 65,700 in 2004.
It should be mentioned that Azerbaijan started export of potato from 2004.
