ASRD completes reconstruction of station for processing of tank-wagons

In late March the Azerbaijani State Railway Department (ASRD) will commission flush-steam station for processing of tank-wagons in Bilajari, Trend reports quoting Ziya Mammadov, the Azerbaijani Transport Minister. At present the project is under completion.

Italian Codest, which became the winner of the tender for implementation of the project on reconstruction of the sation, completed construction of a new platform for carriage washing.

After reconstruction of the station around 250 carriages and 25 tank-wagons will be washed in a day.

The tender for this project was held within the $20.2m loan, allocated by the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in 2000. The value of the project

comprises 5.6m AZN‚ including, $3m allocated from the loan of EBRD. The rest part is presented by ASRD.

Within the project ASRD constructed new roads, platforms for carriage and tank-wagon washing, as well as installed special equipment for reduction of impact on ecology and water processing.

In 2000 EBRD granted $20.2m loan to ASRD. These funds were spent on purchase of track machines, construction of sleeper plant, purchase of rails and reconstruction of flush-steam station in Bilajari. The loan was allocated for 15 years with 3-year grace period under Libor+1%. From 2003 the loan is being returned. ASRD annually carries out two payments per $800,000.
